The CAC provides families with help and support through a difficult situation by providing services such as referrals to our new Counseling Program, safety education, and referrals to outside mental health, medical services and other needed assistance. The CAC Family Advocate stays in communication with the families who need support and assistance after the Forensic Interview and serves as a liaison between the families and the MDT team.
Assistance with Crime Victims Compensation
The CAC assists clients with applying for Crime Victims Compensation. CVC is a state program administered through the Office of the Attorney General to help pay for expenses incurred as the result of a crime.
Rainbow Room
The CAC houses and maintains the Rainbow Room that serves children and families in Lamar and Red River Counties. The Rainbow Room is an emergency resource room that provides clothing, diapers, baby formula, shoes, personal hygiene items as well as many other things to children in need. The Rainbow Room is used primarily by Child Protective Services to provide items to children who are going into foster care. Often times when children go into foster care, they don't have the basic necessities like a change of clothes or hygiene items. The Rainbow Room is able to help during this difficult transition by providing a few basic necessities to help make that first night in foster care a little easier.
We accept donations of new clothing, shoes, hygiene items, blankets (the fleece tied blankets always go fast!) and cleaning supplies. All items donated to the Rainbow Room must be new.
